17th and 18th century music from the Republic of Venice
Arcadia Summer 2018 will focus on the music from Venice, around the figures of Andrea e Giovanni Gabrieli, Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Vivaldi, Benedetto Marcello and many other composers who made the city of Venice famous in the world.
There will be a big “tutti” group, involving all the participants, making the main program of the course and presented to the public at the end of the week, as well as chamber music formations.

Music
We will work on a selection of music Venice. Here is a little appetizer of Giovanni Gabrieli’s wonderful music:
For whom?
Voices: Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Basses (ripieni singers and soloists)
Instruments: strings (including viola da gamba), flutes, trombones, dulcian/bassoon, harpsichord/organ, theorbo.
We prefer period instruments.
Pitch will be A=415 (it will be more convenient to switch between 17th and 18th century music)
